Thunderstorms + Rain + Neurotic Dog = No rest for the wicked
Must speak with vet about doggie tranquilizers.
UPDATE — The above was written around 3:30 a.m., after Kizzie had been acting very obnoxious scared and having a bit of an anxiety attack due to all of the storming we had in the early evening hours. The anxiety continued into the late evening and early morning, even though, to my knowledge, there were no thunderstorms going on during that time. After I wrote this post, I shoved her under the bed put her in a safe, happy place and she actually stayed there, enabling me to sleep soundly from about 4:00 – 7:00. Must get dog crate back from Mom, which is another safe, happy place for said dog. This does not mean that I won’t explore giving her some sort of medication for thunderstorms and other wonderfully LOUD events like New Years, 4th of July, etc. I have plenty of drugs that would knock her out, but I don’t think it would be a good idea to feed her Klonopin wrapped in cheese, although I am willing to share if the vet thinks that is a good idea.
You will not drug my dog!!!!!!!!!
